Speech, English, and SMSU Challenge Program Courses
A little about me: I obtained a Bachelor's of Science Degree from SMSU for grades K-12 specializing in Language Arts and Speech Communication. I was a foster parent for 13 years, working with teens in Minnesota before that. I am also a parent of three wonderful boys: Colby, Brett, and Levi.
Fall Schedule:
10th grade English consists of speech, literature, and writing. We also do daily vocabulary and grammar work as well as media center research for papers and speeches.
The Communications class is the Fundamentals of Speaking and LIstening class required by most major universities. We will follow the syllabus/requirements set up by SMSU. I will also add some components of Interview Techniques as we have three additional weeks in our semester. The Intro to Literature class is also a SMSU course. We follow the syllabi of both courses as chosen by SMSU Professors/Advisors.
Spring Schedule:
Grade 9 English consists of literature, grammar, and preparation for the MCA writing exam in April.
Advanced Composition is the basic SMSU composition class required. Students will leave with a good grasp
on basic grammar and writing skills necessary at the collegiate level.
