Media Center News

Book Fair - Thanks to all the families who generously supported the 2005 Scholastic Book Fair. This year the total sales were $6920.31 which was a slight increase over last year. We decided to take a cash profit of $1650 and book profits of $850. What a joy to see so many good books in the hands of our students! The 2006 Book Fair has been rescheduled for Nov. 27-29.Thanks again for your support!

Open Computer - on Tuesday and Thursday from 3-4 students can participate in Open Computer. This program is sponsored by Community Education and is available for students in Grades 3-4. Students must bring a permission slip signed by the parent. Mrs. LaVonne Johnson is in charge of this program.

Video Camera Crew - Students in Grade 6 are invited to participate in training for the Camera Crew. These students video the musicals and other school programs as well as classroom projects. Training in the fall and includes several hours of after school training. Mrs. LaVonne Johnson is in charge of this program also.

Several items are collected in the Media Center. During the 2005-2006 school year, we will collect, GM Box Tops for Education, Kemps Milks Jug Covers and Campbells Soup Labels.

Save your Kemps Milk Jug Covers for Canby Elementary School

We can redeem each cover for 5 cents and the funds will purchase new books in our Media Center. A collection box is available both in the Media Center and Jim's Market. The project will continue through the 2005-2006 school year and we have redeemed $465. so far this school year. (Total for 2003-2005 was app. $2000.) Thanks and keep collecting the covers for us!
